Paul Degen
Paul Degen is always on the move, mentally and physically. After an apprenticeship as a lithographer with Wassermann AG in Basel, he attended the Basel College of Commercial Art. Soon afterwards, he was working in the graphic studio run by Theo Ballmer and the Académie Julien in Paris. After returning to Basel he worked as a freelance graphic artist for Herbert Leupin, Celestino Piatti, Fritz Bühler and the Eidenbenz Studio. Later on, around 1970, he was drawn to New Yorkto Push Pin Studio with Milton Glaser and Seymour Chwast, the best of the world's best illustrators. Rio de Janeiro, Hawaii and Bali came next. More than 30 covers for the New Yorker, countless illustrations for Harper's, Esquire, Atlantic Monthly and the New York Times testify to his immense and highly varied oeuvre. His works radiate humour and originality. Please inquire for more information about the following Paul Degen works:
